Recuperation has started. This is a two to three week or so period to recuperate. However, it still involves going to the hospital, lots of pills and lots of monitoring. Apparently, the prednisone that Sue takes has a few side effects (it is being taken as an anti-Leukemia drug) including messing with insulin production/blood sugar levels.
So, Sue has to be monitored for blood sugar levels four times a day. This involves poking her for a blood sample to put on the glucose monitor. If her sugar level is above a certain point, she requires an insulin injection (yes, like being a diabetic). Now, the prednisone is being withdrawn slowly from her regimen and I think the roller coaster ride of low sugar in the morning and very high levels in the evening are starting to even out. We shall see. But in the meantime, more measuring.
Sue, I am keeping busy here with the internship at the winery and living as a "single woman" again while JP is working hard at Davis and loving/hating it all at once. Oh, those college days!!! Sounds like you may be heading to a somewhat more relaxed pace? Thinking of you and with you in spirit! lotsa love, Heids

Hey --
Had to start that way because it just is -- It was great to hear you voice last night in the office. You sound really good. I am truly impressed. I don't sound that good after a day in the office! Wanted you and your family to know that over the holidays I have been the lucky one and had 3 aliyot to the Torah. Had a special blessing on two of them for healing for my dear friend. Such are the benefits of highly organized services run by women! Hope to be seeing you in the near future. Be well and feel better. Helen

Hey Sue,
Glad you're settling into a regimen, even if it involves a day at the IPOP. (With that name, it seems as though it should involve fun psychotropic drugs or at least kickin' music with breakfast)

Suzie,
Great to talk to you. Life is busy in South Carolina but the best way to live and be. Maybe after all your chemo you can come and rest and relax in the south.
Nothing like it.
Love you,
Pam
