Last Friday, Sue's GVHD team, the doctors who handle graft versus host disease, fired her. This means that unless something shows up, she has no more scheduled appointments with them. And for the next year or so Sue should only have monthly visits with her oncologist and quarterly lumbar punctures with chemo (note: this is chemo just for the central nervous system and is separate from the systemic chemo that Sue is no longer getting). All in all, very good news.
Last night we went out to see images projected on the National Cathedral. There is an artist who projects images onto the sides of large structures and although we were very close to the cathedral, supposedly people can see the cathedral bathed in wild images from miles away. Sue was very happy to be able to get out and enjoy the happening. http://www.cathedral.org/cathedral/ltu/main.shtml
Sue still has to be careful about colds and flus, sun burns and exposure to everything that she is no longer vaccinated against. And she still has to take Gleevec for the rest of her life. But every day Sue is getting stronger and closer to normal.
