After a difficult and dangerous two months back in June and July, Sue has been doing much better. Although having had a cold and the ongoing effects of treatment can be tough, we are thankful that the rest of the year has been relatively calm. We are also thankful for a wonderful Thanksgiving with relatives in New Jersey and New York.
We are thankful for Sue’s doctors, nurses and techs, mainly at Johns Hopkins in Baltimore for providing the care Sue needs. We are thankful that there are others being successfully treated with the same drug for the same condition (CNS involvement of ALL Philly+) and kudos to Ariad Pharmaceuticals for Iclusig.
We are deeply thankful for President Obama who brought all of us the ACA which has greatly improved the quality of health care for us. From quick access to lab results electronically, to better coordination with home care, and to the security of lifetime access to care for those with cancer with no denial ever for medically necessary care. We are hopeful that this lifetime guarantee for all of us is never taken away.
And most of all, we are thankful for the love and support from our family, friends and all of Sue’s work colleagues. We try to be hopeful for a safe and happy year ahead.
With much love,
Daniel
