Every year since 2007, Sue would celebrate her new birthday on this day, June 21st. This is when Sue was reborn with someone else’s bone marrow and blood system. Not only significant, the transplant (BMT or HSCT), it was extremely dangerous. Having survived the process which takes months, it was indeed something to celebrate And to thank the donor, Bruce.
So today I want to thank those who helped over the years to give Sue more than a decade fighting back. To her health care providers, who probably number in the hundreds. To our families who gave their love, time and care. To innumerable friends who made us feel welcomed. And to many others.
Lets celebrate her special birthday anniversary on the summer solstice, the longest day that helped give Sue more than a decade more.
