As hard as it is to realize the loss of Sue, I am always filled with memories of her that get stronger with time. Her care for other people and strength of character is a constant and resonating memory. We would often sit on the back porch and either read and listen to music, chat or just revel in nature. I am grateful for these memories.
I am also grateful that her experiences with treatments for leukemia are helping to improve and lengthen the lifetimes afflicted with it. I was invited to speak at the campus of the makers of Iclusig/ponatinib in Cambridge, MA about the various issues about taking the drug. I believe that Sue’s travails may be able to limit the downsides and improve the quality of life of others. And the research based on Sue’s unique experience continues to be studied at Johns Hopkins.
I am hoping that we all have a better 2019 than 2018 and that we continue to hold Sue in our memories and hearts.
Happy New Year!
