Today is our wedding anniversary. I miss her so much. And yet all I can do is think of is all of us trapped like she was in a world of vulnerability to infections. Over the many years, we spent weeks in hospitals dealing with infections that were life threatening to her. And that was despite liberal use of hand sanitizer, wearing masks, social distancing and the list went on and on. After defeating the leukemia that threatened her life, it was a respiratory illness that killed her.
We need to start acting like we are trying to keep our infection from leaping to those around us. We need to wear gloves and masks. If we don’t, we are not being responsible to our communities. Since our government has not made sure we have enough protective wear, like most other countries, we may be forced to create makeshift versions of masks, reuse dish-washing gloves, etc.
Others I know no longer have work or businesses. Others are now dealing with the type of loss of a loved one, like Sue. We are all suffering now in various ways.
We need to work together to try and save as many lives as possible. Please wash your hands for 30 seconds after touching anything that may have been touched within 3 days. Please wear a mask when at stores, even if handmade, even if you feel silly. Please wear gloves when handling other people’s food or touching items in a store. I think of Sue and how hard I tried to do these things to keep her safe. Please join me to save our neighbors. And think of Sue on our anniversary.
Love,
Daniel
